In a meaningful interaction at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Shaifalika Panda, associated with the Bansidhar & Ila Panda Foundation (BIPF), met President Droupadi Murmu and presented a 15-year commemorative book titled Threads of Belonging — A Journey of Shared Purpose. The discussion highlighted the potential of collective efforts in addressing challenges faced by marginalized communities, with emphasis on empathy and long-term community support.
Such engagements reflect a broader pattern where the President of India connects with individuals dedicated to social causes. These moments underscore the value of grassroots work in education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and inclusion.

Suzanne Memon of MZM Care Foundation met the President to discuss initiatives for uplifting underprivileged communities across India.
Palam Kalyanasundaram, the retired librarian from Tamil Nadu known as the “Librarian of the Millennium,” received the Padma Shri for donating his entire earnings and pension to charity, supporting education and the poor.
Dr. K.S. Rajanna, a differently-abled social worker who overcame severe physical challenges to serve persons with disabilities, was awarded the Padma Shri by the President.
Akarshana Sathish, a young philanthropist from Hyderabad, met President Murmu after establishing multiple libraries to promote literacy among underprivileged children.
These examples, along with many Padma awardees in social work, illustrate a growing recognition of quiet, sustained efforts that build resilience and opportunity at the community level.
